An Update From Coach Nate

I am extremely excited to be back for another enjoyable season at GMT. Over the last few years I have really seen the kids, parents and staff of this program become a true team.Coaches Jared and Andi plan on returning which makes me even more thrilled.
We have a real opportunity this summer to show the other FSA teams that Genesee is a force to be reckoned with when we show up at meets. I plan on keeping the center of focus on fun for the kids and parents, maintaining physical fitness in the pool, and helping our swimmers to achieve any personal goals they set for themselves. As a personal goal, I would like to take an even larger team to the League Meet in July -  something we have achieved every year for the last three; I don't see any reason to stop now!

Genesee Mountain Thunder has been committed to providing our community with a strong summer swimming program for years. The members of our team learn the aspects of the sport of swimming, teamwork and accountability. We have a lot of fun during the summer and welcome children of all abilities up to 18 years of age.

Key Dates for 2017 click link here

Since many of our families are already starting to plan summer camps and vacations. For this reason we are sending along the key dates for the summer season.

We are hosting three home meets again this summer - two of which are pretty early in the season. Mark these on your calendar as it is Coach Nate's Goal to have over 65 swimmers (or over 75% of the team) at each of our home meets.

In addition, there is a new "fun" league meet added to the schedule called the Freestyle Frenzy on June 11th.  This will be similar to the AAC relay meet, but instead of being relays - it will be 100% based on Freestyle events. Although most of the events don't count toward a swimmers time, it should be fun to watch folks swim events they don't normally get to (i.e.. 25 free for upper division).

Finally, please note that our Team Pictures are earlier this year (Friday, June 16) so that we can coincide with our home meet and swimmer breakfast.

13 and up from 7:15-8:00am

9-12 from 8:15-9:30am

8 and under 9:15-10:00am

June 2nd-First meet at Wheatridge

The Genesee Mountain Thunder swim team consists of children ages 5-18 who practice daily at the Foothills neighborhood pool in the beautiful Genesee mountains of Golden.  We are part of the Foothills Swim Association (FSA) and participate in organized summer swim meets with other FSA teams in Jefferson County from Memorial Day through the end of July.  We have been active with FSA swimming for over 30 years.

Genesee Mountain Thunder, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, was established solely to provide children in Genesee and the surrounding  communities with the opportunity to develop their swimming skills, to promote good sportsmanship in competitive aquatics, and to encourage exercise and build character in a fun summer team environment.
The swim team is run by a volunteer parent board.

We swim at the Foothills Pool Genesee located at 1985 Foothills Drive South in Genesee.
